GIS APPLICATIONS IN ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA)
Introduction
This course is appropriate for those in the Government, university and NGO sectors who wish to build up and extend their
knowledge and skills in using geographic information systems (GIS) in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and obtain
practical experience in the application of GIS technologies and disciplines. This course will highlight emerging topics related to
the principles and practice of EIA, including concepts, tools and methods, and related issues. GIS as a tool will be used to
visually illustrate the implications of spatial decisions. GIS will be applied in all EIA stages: from the acquisition, storage and
display of thematic information relative to the vulnerability of the affected resources, to impact prediction and qualification,
evaluation, and finally, presentation.

DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION OF PROFESSIONAL DATABASES WITH ORACLE
Introduction
Design & Implementation of Professional Databases with ORACLE
Professional database design is at the heart of any computer application. This two days workshop covers the complete cycle of
professional database design from creating the conceptual schema using the Entity-Relationship Model to mapping the design
to the relational schema and finally normalizing the relational schema.
The workshop will train the participant on using ORACLE to develop a computer application. Participants will be trained to
program using SQL statements including the insert, update, delete & select. The workshop will provide hands on practice for
using SQL commands applied on single and multiple tables with a variety of selection conditions. Participants will learn how to
develop and program a complete simple application using ORACLE FORMS based on PL-SQL, triggers & procedures.
